Kauai 2012 Quilting

If you visit Kauai, be sure to check out the two quilt stores, both have excellent fabrics and very friendly staff!
close to the town of Lihue, is Peaches and the
Kapaia Stitchery the 3-3561 Kuhio Hwy Lihue, HI 96766
Phone :            (808) 245-1772
and ... of course, I needed to buy some of those beautiful batiks!
A little further up the east side of the island is Vicky's -
1326 Kuhio  Hwy, Papaa, Hawaii 96746 Phone 808 822 1746

Vicky's daughter, Maile,  is taking over the shop, with mom getting some time to 'do her own thing' ...  at least, when she is not working in the store! And, somehow I needed to buy some more of those beautiful Hawaiian fabrics!
Another interesting visit is the Kaua'i Museum where a Hawaiian Quilting Group meets on Friday mornings under the watchful eye of 'auntie', Florence Muraoka.

I visited on my last trip and wrote an article for the CQA/ACC Canadian Quilter Magazine - winter 2011. I brought copies for the two stores and the group.

The museum is worth an afternoon's perusal with lots of exhibits of the early culture and the post contact of Europeans.
