Saucy little visitor!

He actually pulled the string of lights down.
In the winter, we put seed out for the little birds ... but, we have one more visitor ... he is a real acrobat!

Neat trick, balancing on your back feet while you fill your face with  a hunk of seed that you patiently dug out of the bird feeder!

winter 2012

Winter has come to the lower mainland of British Columbia! We generally get a 3 day winter. This year it seems that we will have at least a week.
This was taken at dusk with a flash. The flash reflects off the snow flakes. You have to love the  speed of these digital cameras!
Our courtyard was filled with Chickadees and Varied Thrush, with the occasional Steller's Jay. We feed them during snow time, but not in the warmer months when the bear is up and looking for a tasty snack!
Larks?

The Singing Quilter

We had a great guest at our quilt guild. Cathy Miller is the 'Singing Quilter'. She travels all over the world. http://www.singingquilter.com/
Her songs are witty, fun and each has a story. Cathy's quilts are amazing and each also has a tale to tell. She has two CD's. Her self portrait is the cover of her second CD. Book her for a meeting or play her CD at your retreat. Only a quilter can write and sing these songs!

Merry Christmas to you ...

Our usual weather in the southwest corner of British Columbia is mild & wet. The past week has been below zero with over a foot of snow. Frost clings and sparkles on the trees.Moss is green - year round.Seed pods are graceful against the blue sky.Wind as sculptor ...Seeds feed the little critters ...Berries shine in the cold.Trees can be strong & mighty,or, as graceful as this willow tree moving in the wind.Winter wonderland and a promise of a 'White Christmas'.I would like to extend the best of the season to you and yours!
Here is a little sun/star to make a wish on ....

new camera!

My new camera is a Nikon 300, digital SLR.
I used it for the Pentiction photos.

Some decorative grasses along the beach.

Then, I experimented ... I took photos out the open window.
The road was bumpy, it was raining and the canyon twists. This second photo has a 'ghost image' of trees. This is the original photo:
I used photoshop and 'auto' to enhance colours. Amazing textures and colours appeared!

Spring has sprung ...

Here is my 'big boy' ... all 20 pounds of him! He is wondering where all this blue stuff came from.
After considerable thought, Scampy decided a nap was in order. He lives in my studio and has his bed on my worktable.
We have two other cats who are 18 years old and 6 pounds each ... they look small, delicate and laid back. However, Scampy will tell you that they are scary ... they put the claws to him, snarl and he avoids them at all costs.
