Abstract Challenge: Oct. Shells

The theme for October was 'shells'. I kept seeing it in designs.

On a trip to Manitoba, we visited a little community called St. Norbert, south of Winnipeg. In a park was a historic building that was built in the 1600’s. This area is rich with stories of the British Army marching to quell a rebellion led by Louis Riel. It has been restored with the methods used at the time. Life was hard, transportation was on foot or by canoe. I was amazed to see the care taken by a craftsman to create a roof on the house that was made in an artistic way. Art is not a necessary part of the making of a roof. A section of the roof design had shingles that were shaped like shells.

The fabric is a crop of my photo of the roof.
