Abstract Challenge Jan/10 Underwater

The topic for January was 'Underwater'. My piece is an impression of a tidal pool with raindrops on the surface and indistinct shapes with a touch of algae.
There are three layers to the top: blue cotton with darker circles, painted batting, a sprinkle of reflective plastic and a topping of sheer blue.
I think the raindrops idea came from the many walks on the beach when summer rain was a part of our 'wet' coast. Or, maybe from swimming in the rain ... I always felt that you were wet anyway!

Very nice abstracted piece. The lighter objects remind me of fish that would be swimming around 'underwater'. So the lighter areas are pieces of batting that you have painted? Did you fuse them to the blue fabric? Your work is always wonderful!

The painted batting really works well!

I really like the way the colors blend in your piece; very evocative of "underwater". How big is this?

Get lost in the ripples of stitches. Great piece, Vivian!
