Trip: Alberta & Saskatchewan Part 8 Canmore

We paused in Canmore Alberta before heading home. This is a favorite place for us! The mountains are amazing and the flora and fauna are always interesting. It is a place where you can find peace. The walk along the Bow River had one highlight. Osprey were nesting. Below you can see both parents in the nest. The nest is a platform built for this purpose. Here is a link to information about the osprey. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/osprey/id

The river itself changes from day to day and season to season. I'm always interested in patterns. This is rust on the train bridge. Spring is a wonderful time to see the tiny 'jewels' of nature ... These unusual butterflies were visiting the dandelions. This beautiful robin paused for a photo. I need to find my book about western wildflowers ...
The 'trickster' is an intelligent and saucy bird ... always in and about the forest. This little chipmunk ran in front of me and then posed on the rock. The date was the middle of June and there is still a cornice of snow on the rim of the mountains. And then, we said goodbye to Canmore and the Three Sisters and headed home.
