a walk along the dikes ...

The Dutch immigrants saw the fertile land that flooded every spring in the Pitt Polder . They built a network of dikes and pumps to contain the water. The rich farmlands now have many cranberry and bluebery farms. The wetlands support wildlife, including the magnificent blue heron.
The Golden Ears Mountains show a dusting of snow.
Nearby, a magnificent old tree is silhouetted against the sky.
