Surface Design Show in Ladysmith

What a day! 4 gals on a mission to see an art quilt show! We headed to Vancouver Island in the morning and stopped at a little coffee shop in Horseshoe Bay - Vivian, Judy, Judy and Leslie. Due to forest fires in the B.C. interior, the mountains were smoky. By noon, the mist had disappeared and we were in sunshine, on our way south of Nanaimo to lunch at the Crow and Gate Pub. We met 4 more gals - joining us below are Gail and Coreen. Somehow, we missed getting photos of Jan and Rita.We had a tasty and chat filled lunch and then headed to the Ladysmith Waterfront Art Gallery to see the Vancouver Island Surface Design Art Quilt Show. The show was in a warehouse type of building and this is the view - The show was great - lots of creative ideas that were well executed. As is typical, we could not take photos of the artwork, but we had permission to take a shot of the full gallery. We never did see the town of Ladysmith. Instead, we headed back to Nanaimo for a visit to a wonderful quilt shop the Snip & Stitch. Needless to say we did our bit to support the economy here! We rushed for the 5:30 ferry and enjoyed the trip home. The smoke had cleared a little. Looking up to Squamish, Anvil Is. stands out. Vancouver is in the distance as we near home. As we round the corner and head back to Horseshoe Bay, the sailboats are having an event, and the ferry skirts around them ... only in Vancouver!
A wonderful day, with wonderful friends!
