We had our annual retreat in Alberta. Our membership spans from B.C. to Manitoba. The retreat is a time to renew friendships & make new friends, share our enthusiasm for Fibre Art and gain inspiration.
This is the formal photo ...The focus of our meeting is to discuss and make decisions on policy. Last year we had shows at the APNQ in Seattle and at the FibreWorks Gallery in Gunboat Bay on the Sunshine Coast in BC. In the coming year, we will have a show in conjunction with the CQA/ACC Quilt Canada in Calgary April 26 - May 2 at the Telus Convention Center. http://www.canadianquilter.com/events/index_events_quiltcanada2010.htm
We had a speaker from the Craft Council of Alberta who give advice in marketing our work. Each quilt artist showed the recent work they completed and talked about their creative journey. Judy Villett led an excellent critique of several quilts. We examined the best parts of the design and discussed 'what if you ...."
The less serious and fun activities: ATC trade and a great Halloween Party! Our challenge was to make a mask and wear a costume for the party. They say that our 'hidden personality' comes out in our costumes! Our show girl and the nun ...The location was camp He (health) Ho (hope) and Ha (Happiness) on Lake Isle, an hour east of Edmonton. Sunrise on the lake with a rim of ice and frosted leaves.Wild swans and ducks call the lake home.Sunset was golden! Moonlight reflected off the skim of ice on the lake ...We all had a wonderful time meeting with old friends and making new friends. Thanks to the organizing committee !!!
