TIF Challenge Feb. "I remember when ...."

I spent my early childhood in the city of Toronto. I was lucky to have grandparents who lived on a farm in the Collingwood area ... soft rolling hills of fertile land that was perfect for mixed farming. The brick house was built in the late 1800's, the barn and other buildings were older. My brother and I spent our summers exploring. I love the sun bleached wood of old buildings and the old rusted equipment, often left where it was last used. Hollyhocks adorned these abondoned sheds.
This piece will be the cover to a fabric art book based on those 'country' memories.
Techniques: the design is original and was painted & free motion stitched

Your finished TIF pieces is wonderful. I'm ashamed to say that just a few days shy of the end of the month and I haven't even started mine yet. I must get cracking!

I can almost feel the heat of high summer looking at the bright coloured holly hocks and the washed out grey siding of the workshed. It's a beautiful piece. Could you say something about the fabric and what you used to paint it? Bravo!

Sorry Vivian I have just picked up the comment you left on the Feb TIF. A liberty bodice was an undergarment supposed to give a layer of warmth. you can see what I said here http://alteringthoughts.blogspot.com/2008/02/so-much-going-on.html.

Your piece is just beautful!

It's beautiful! I just love the purple flowers. It reminds me of picnics we used to take in abandoned farms when my sister and I were kids!

Hi, Vivian,
What a great blog! I loved your comments about your grandparents' place, and your portrayal of it. You certainly must enjoy using so many media to re-create beauty and fond memories.
I'm also writing to tell you about a project I'm working on. It's a collection of Thank You Stories, to
be published in a book titled I Never Got to Thank You.
I would love to include one of your Thank You Stories.
You can read about the project on my post:
http://lovingherbeautiful.blogspot.com/2008/02/i-never-got-to-thank-you.html.
If you like what you read, I would also be very grateful if you would pass on my link to anyone else you're comfortable with -- even if you don't write a Story yourself. My goal is to collect 100 letters by March 31st, but that date is certainly not a cut-off. Everyone is welcome to contribute a letter -- or more than one!
Thank you for reading.
Blessings to you!
