South Western Alberta

Where the Rocky Mountains meet the foothills, you will find Pincher Creek, a ranching and grain area. A new industry is the production of electricity with these huge windmills that stand in lines across the hilltops. The cost is 1 million dollars each - the company leases the land and the farmer has a profitable 'crop'.

Twenty minutes drive and you are in Waterton Park: a UNESCO world heritage site, biosphere reserve and International Peace Park. Glaciers carved its spectacular scenery. As well as hiking trails, there is a boatride takes you to the other end of the upper lake and the border of the U.S.

On the beach: interesting decorations and very friendly wildlife

Nearby, is a buffallo reserve.
How is this for a cabin view?

We stayed at the Valley Blue B&B. They are an operating ranch with Parthenais cattle.

And, of course there is a friendly farm dog. This Pyranees dog is bred for its white bushy coat, designed to look like a sheep and be a guard dog. He sleeps in the daytime and is alert at night.
